Between April 1944 and May 1945, 405FG lost 69 pilots
Killed In Action, (23 from 511FS), lost 125 P47’s in addition to a
further 700 receiving varying degrees of flak damage with many written
off. Claims are too numerous to go into but they cover air and ground
aircraft (air claims were low due to their mission type),
trains, flatbeds troops, tanks, marshalling
yards, bridges, barges, airfields. Generally everything for the
511FS was a target.
